Compact Digital camera with optical viewfinder and wide angle lens?
Im looking for a compact digital camera, something I can carry in a jacket or pocket.. with an optical viewfinder and wide angle lens. Something good for night time shot also with a good iso. Im having a difficult time, so any help would be great thanks
Neither the Olympus pen or Canon G11 cannot be practically carried in a jacket without spoiling it’s line. While the Sigma DP1 does have a big sensor and a decently wide lens (28mm equiv) and remains small (though still not pocket sized) and doesn’t have a VF.
Now there are ocassionally straightforward compacts such as a Sony W120 which have optical viewfinders and a moderate-wide lens at the front, with the equivalent to 35mm. However you’ll have to sacrifice noise performance.
Cameras such as the Fujifilm F80EXR and Z700EXR promise to control noise at ISO, in a much smaller package, however they don’t have optical VF’s.
That really outlines your problem. There are cameras that check three of the four requirements, but I haven’t come across one which fills all three. Perhaps the Sony Alpha NEX3 or NEX5 with the 16mm pancake lens will be your best solution, though still without the optical viewfinder, even then I still wouldn’t like to try and shoehorn one into my jacket (or jeans pockets).
